Bożenna Biskupska

Bożenna Biskupska (born 1952 in Warsaw) is a visual artist whose work encompasses painting, sculpture, performance, and large-scale spatial installations, often utilizing concrete, negative film, and video projections. In 1984, she gained international recognition for her participation in the 41st Venice Biennale, where she presented her monumental site-specific installations. For over five decades, she has developed a unique artistic language, combining figurative forms with abstraction and exploring the processual nature of matter in installations of impressive scale. She is the co-founder and director of the International Cultural Laboratory in Sokołowsko, a center dedicated to artistic experimentation and interdisciplinary projects. Her recent retrospective exhibition, "The Artist and the Possible Construction," at the Four Domes Pavilion in Wrocław, showcased iconic works such as the sculpture "One-Legged," as well as extensive spatial installations, highlighting the multidimensional nature of her practice.
